The 2025 Policy Labs
The EDSAFE AI Alliance Policy Lab network is excited to announce two new cohorts - the 2025 EDSAFE AI Alliance District Policy Lab and the 2025 EDSAFE AI Alliance State Policy Lab.
These pioneering, voluntary communities of practice are dedicated to navigating the complex and evolving landscape of artificial intelligence in education. Support for these new cohorts is made possible through a grant from Google.org.
The network will expand thanks to the support of Google.org, which is providing a multi-year grant to the EDSAFE AI Alliance, a coalition led by 30 leading education organizations, to support the expansion of its AI Policy Labs initiative. This funding will help states and school districts develop and implement clear, effective, and responsible AI policies and guidance aligned with the SAFE Framework.
Over the next three years, the grant will enable the EDSAFE AI Alliance to triple its reach and significantly expand its work. This includes:
-
Serving a national network: The grant will help expand the network to 44 school districts and 20 states, a threefold increase.
-
Reaching a wide audience: This will impact over 75,000 K-12 educators and nearly 6,000 education and district leaders.
-
Benefitting millions of students: The educators and leaders served by this initiative represent over 3 million students. The resources and policies created through this work will ultimately impact more than 1,000 districts and millions more students nationwide.

These districts join a community of cohort one districts, including: Lynwood USD, Gwinnett County Public Schools, Atlanta Public Schools, NYC Public Schools, Natick Public Schools, El Segundo USD, Santa Ana USD, and Canon City Schools.
